Advancing Towards Sustainable Communities - E. Aswath Reddy, Director

Advancing Towards Sustainable Communities
Given that 60 percent of the world’s population is expected to live in cities by 2030 and 50 percent of India’s population is expected to reside in cities by 2031, I strongly sense there will be an increasing demand for sustainable infrastructural development to enable a harmonious working, living, and socializing environment.

I believe that a healthy lifestyle requires a balance of three vital areas in our lives: the home, the job, and inclusively sociable space. However, continuously diminishing urban surroundings make access to ‘inclusively social locations’ such as parks, community halls, multipurpose centres, youth/child facilities, libraries, performing arts centres, and so on.

With the belief that long-term community infrastructure is essential for building and sustaining thriving communities I have ensured that our ventures are advancing towards sustainable communities. Sustainable communities, in my opinion, act as a gateway for enhancing social and economic opportunities, which in turn improves people’s quality of life.

I work with the vision that sustainable communities equip will our residents with a secure attachment, the option to interact in group activities, and the possibility of developing social networks. Senior residents, children, and individuals with disabilities benefit the most, as a neighborhood serves as a primary benchmark for them. I further advocate a pro-environment culture in which collective action and peer pressure encourage behavior change.

You would have guessed by now that I view that in order for a community to exist in which such inclusive social spaces can arise and thrive in a society, sufficient infrastructure must first be in place.Community infrastructures, through providing public areas for networks, facilities, and public activities, serve as the foundation for strong neighborhoods to thrive and prosper.

Children can only play together if there is a neighborhood park. Similarly, the community can only gather for social, educational, or recreational purposes if it has access to a multipurpose centre. And that’s what my projects are all about. I promise to offer our customers a community that has been built with sustainable facilities.

I have always considered that investing in “strong” community infrastructures would integrate physical and social planning and development and will invest sufficiently in both. For example, our residential layouts, while providing basic facilities such as parks and commercial complexes, constitute strong community infrastructures since the residents can easily access things such as education, shopping, or healthcare.

Check out our new project Celesta, an exciting project that has been built with the vision of promising sustainable communities for our customers!
